From Sep. 14 (Sat) to Sep. 24 (Sun), Happo Alpen Line is open at 6:30 a.m. and Kurobishi Line is open at 6:15 a.m. on weekends and holidays. Besides, today is the first day of 3 straight holidays, so there were many people even from the early morning. By the way, “100-katsu Week” is held in Kitaone Kogen in the same period.

This week, the weather was not so good in spite of the forecast. It was overcast in this morning as well and I felt too cool on the mountain. In the trail, the glass and trees were getting into autumn tints, but we could still find the flowers of Umebachisou, Tamurasou and Hakusanshajin.

The clouds were high in the sky, so we could see Mt. Goryu in the south, 3 peaks of Hakuba in the north and Kaerazu-no-ken in the west. At 8:00 a.m. when I got to Happo-ike Pond, there were already a lot of people and the view point was so crowded. The surface of the water was like a mirror, so some people posed to a camera across the pond.

Along the trails in the fall, we could see the cute seeds and fruits of alpine plants. Before Happo Cairn, Kuromamenoki put fruits like blueberries. I saw the red seeds of Takanebara (Photo), Nanakamado and Iwahaze as well.

I met much more families than weekdays and a father and his child said they would go to Mt. Karamatsu. This boy is just 6 years old, but he has already climbed up 9 mountains! Now, the typhoon is approaching to Hakuba, so please keep rain wear and jackets together for the changeable weather.
