From Cairn No.3, I came up to Maruyama Cairn through Shimo-no-kanba, Kami-no-kanba and Ougi-no-setsuden. When I reached to the trail, I found a ptarmigan which is designated as a national natural treasure. It has already changed its color of the feather into brown.

We were favored with the good weather. Although the clouds gathered as the temperature was getting higher from 8:00 a.m, the blue sky always spread over us. In Happo Nature Trail, there was remaining snow only in the east part of Happo-ike Pond. In the trail of Mt. Karamatsu, I still found the snow in the upper part from Shimo-no-kanba.

From Shimo-no-kanba to Maruyama Cairn, we walked on the snow third times. They were not so long, but it was much better to walk with crampons. By the way, the trail to Ougi-no-setsuden was covered with the snow, so we had to climb up the slope beside on the snow like the photo.

After about 1 hour from Happo-ike Pond, I got to Maruyama Cairn (2,430m). The sunlight was hot and the wind was blowing very lightly, so a half-sleeve shirt was enough during trekking. At Happo-ike, more and more snow was thawing. It got much thinner recently and it looked to be melt over in the next week. In the trails, Yukiwarisou made small colonies and showed us the cute pink flowers.
