Today, on July 3 (Sat), Happo Alpen Line (Gondola + Alpen Quad + Riesen Quad) has started the operation!!The blue sky spread out in this early morning and the sunlight was warm in spite of the cool air. The beginning part of Ridge Trail was dry and I did not see any snow here.

The upper part of Broadwalk is still covered with snow, so only Ridge Trail is open now. When I looked back, I could see the peaks of Mt. Myoko, Mt. Hiuchi, Mt. Takatsuma and Mt. Ototsuma. Around my feet, there were alpine flowers such as Yukiwariso, Harurindo, Iwakagami, Umehatazao, Miyamaazumagiku.

After passing Cairn No.2, the amount of remaining snow increased and we walked on the snow a little before Happo Cairn. Some parts of the trail was wet and slippy because of the melted snow. The clouds started to gather at around 9:00 a.m, so the temperature was kept low and I did not feel hot during trekking.

When I climbed up to the ridge before Cairn No.3 after 40-minute trekking from Happo-ike Sanso Hut, the great view of Kaerazu-no-ken, 3 peaks of Hakuba and Mt. Goryu jumped into my sight. The wind was really chilly and it made me feel cold soon.

The surface of the water of Happo-ike Pond was slightly exposed on June 1 (Thu), but today, it covered with snow entirely because of the snowfall until yesterday. More and more people came after 10:00 a.m. and they took photos of this precious view only in this season. Now, climbing irons are not necessary to climb up to Happo-ike Pond, but trekking shoes and clothes against the cold are still needed.
