Today is the last day of the 2016 summer operation of Happo Alpen Line. The temperature was 0 degree in Kurobishidaira this morning and the wooden paths in Kamaike Marsh was frozen. It was so cold that I need a heavy jacket today.

Some of the trees and grass were covered with frost as well. It was foggy in the upper part from Usagi-daira, but the sun started to cast the soft sunlight around 8:00 a.m. When I reached Happo Cairn, the impressive view of the sea of clouds in the east jumped into my sight.

We had the warm sunlight in the upper part over the clouds and the temperature got up to 5 degrees. The east wind blew away the clouds, so we could see the great view of clouds. The mountains were covered with white trunks of birches.

The peak of Mt. Hiuchi (2,462m) in Niigata Pref. was covered with snow. The snow brings us the sign of Winter and Fall almost gets to end.

It got better and better around the noon. The last operation went off well and the moutain trails were very croweded with people. Anyway, this is the last trekking report of Happo-one as well. Thank you for your support and cheers!!
