Tsugaike Kogen / ◎300cm / Light Snowfall 2021.Jan.20

It was overcast today. Dry fluffy snow was falling, although there was no wind. The snow under the No.2 Pair lift line was almost untouched because the service was suspended yesterday due to the strong wind. “I’m here to enjoy this untouched snow.”, a skier coming from Itoigawa city, Niigata prefecture said.

I took Tsuga No.2 Pair lift, which began its operation at 8:40 am, and headed for Umanose Course (Gradient: Max. 32°, Ave. 17° ), one of the challenging courses in Tsugaike, to enjoy powder snow. The upper groomed run was nicely packed, while the lower steep ungroomed run (pictured) was blanketed with about 50 cm of new snow!

I felt like I was floating, although the snow was a bit packed by the wind yesterday. “Amazing!”, “The snow is perfect today!”, many skiers and snowboarders said.

The groomed powder snow was nicely packed on Shirakaba Slope and Champion Slope (pictured). I enjoyed carving turns, getting my skis on edge. The ungroomed trails felt soft along Champion Quad lift, blanketed with 3~5 cm of new snow.
