Tsugaike Kogen/ ◎195cm / Light Snowy2020.Mar.01

20030101_tsugaike“It was rainy in Itoigaiwa city. I’m glad it’s snowy here.”, a regular snowboarder coming from Itoigawa city, Niigata said. Light snow was falling in the fog this morning. The snow was wet and hard in Tsuga-no-mori Slope. I found some snowballs on the compacted snow area.

The snow was wet and firm along Han-no-ki High-Speed Pair Lift. The fog was very thick on the steep slope in the middle area of Han-no-ki (pictured). “It’s whiteout conditions.” “I think I’m getting sick.”, some visitors said. The snow was granular in the lower area.

20030103_tsugaikeThe clouds around me cleared as I reached Han-no-ki No.1 Station. The snow was nicely loose in the bottom area of Han-no-ki Slope (pictured). I saw many people taking only Han-no-ki No.1 Quad as the visibility was poor in the upper part.

20030104_tsugaikeThe upper part of Shirakaba Slope was shrouded in the fog. However, visibility improved as I went down. The granular snow was nicely firm. I was surprised that the snow was melting faster than I expected. The ground and some grasses were uncovered with snow on the non-groomed steep slope of Champion Slope (pictured left).
