Tsugaike Kogen/ ◎205cm / Snowy & Sunny2020.Feb.09

20020901_tsugaikeWe’ve got heavy snow on Feb, 6 (Thu), 8 (Sat) and this morning. The depth of snow finally reached 200 cm, according to the official announcement! We’ve got especially heavy snow this morning as a high-pressure area lied to the west and a low-pressure area lied to the east. Tsuga No.2 Pair was delayed due to the snow removing work. So, I headed for the non-compacted area along Han-no-ki No.3 Quad in the morning.

20020902_tsugaikeThe fresh snow was about 50 cm deep around Gondola Sanroku Station and 30~40 cm deep on the steep slope in the middle part of Han-no-ki (pictured). I enjoyed the floating sensation, although I felt the bottom sometimes. I heard people shouting with fun here and there. I enjoyed carving turns in the soft, compacted snow which was covered with 3~5 cm of fresh snow.

20020903_tsugaikeThere was no reason not to enjoy Champion Slope, which opened at 9 a.m. The non-compacted area under Champion Quad was covered with over 50 cm of soft fresh snow, which was much deeper than I had expected (pictured). I enjoyed skiing down in the powder snow, not feeling the bottom.

20020904_tsugaikeThe soft snow was widely compacted and flat in the central part of Champion Slope. It was covered with about 20 cm of fresh snow. Meanwhile, the soft, compacted snow was covered with about 3 cm of fresh snow in Oyanohara. It was crowded and Chuo parking area got full by 9:30 a.m. because it was a weekend.
