It was hard to believe that it was warm yesterday. The temperature -8℃ at the upper area in the early morning and trees were all white covered with rime. It was misty but not windy and nice. I enjoyed gaining speed at the softly compacted Tsuga-no-mori Slope.

“It’s HOT in Guam!”, group members from Guam smiled and said. They then went down Gotenba Course, which was nicely soft and wavy. By the way, “Ride with Guch in Hakuba Valley” (First 40 arrivals, 4000 yen) will be held on Feb.8 (Fri). You can enjoy the ride with a snowboard legend, Mr. Bryan Iguchi.

The steep slope in the middle area was a bit hard at Hannoki Slope. However, other areas were nicely firm and I enjoyed making turns. “We come to Tsugaike every year. We drove here after work last night.”, a group of five snowboarders from Tokushima Prefecture said.

The blue sky appeared and the sunlight came through clouds when I reached the last area of Hannoki. The compacted Kane-no-naruoka Slope was wide, flat and nicely firm.
