Tsugaike Kogen / ◎245cm / Snowy2019.Jan.24

19012401_tsugaikeWe have had heavy snow since last night. It was snowing densely on the strong northerly wind around Gondola Shirakaba Station. Gondola operation from Shirakaba Station to Summit Station was canceled due to the strong wind at the upper area. Han-no-ki No.1 Quad was also suspended and there was a long waiting line at Shirakaba Quad even before it started.

19012402_tsugaikeIf you’d like to enjoy powder snow, why don’t you go to Champion Slope for a day like this ? I went to the non-groomed area under the lift line after getting off Champion Quad, which started at 8:50 a.m.. There was 30–35 cm of soft fresh snow and I enjoyed a floating feeling. I also saw people enjoying and shouting for joy.

19012403_tsugaikeI enjoyed gaining speeds on 7–10 cm of fresh snow on the soft groomed area of Champion Slope. “‘JAPOW’ is amazing!”, a group of six Australian visitors smiled and posed for a photo.

19012404_tsugaikeThe wide flat Karamatsu Slope and Oyanohara Slope were nice with “soft groomed snow and 5 cm of fresh snow”. After a while, Han-no-ki No.3 Quad started operation around 8:30 a.m., while Han-no-ki High-speed Pair at 9:00 a.m. and Tsuga No.2 Pair started around 9:30 a.m..
