It was a great day for skiing and snowboarding under a slightly hazy sky. The firmly-groomed granular snow surfaces of Ura Taro Family West (pictured) and Ura Taro Family East had already begun to loosen up by the start of business. Conditions were good for smooth and easy skiing, with my edges biting and skis sliding well.

The Ura Davos Wave Course (pictured) featured a moderately firm granular snow surface. I spoke with the father of a family from Tokyo (pictured, 2nd from left), who told me, “This is our first day of a 1-night 2-day skiing trip. It looks like the weather is going to take a turn for the worse tomorrow, so we’re going to get in as much snowboarding as we can today!”

It was a very quiet start to the day on the well-groomed granular snow surface of the Hinode Slope (pictured), where it almost felt like a private ski slope until around 9:30. The groomed surface of the nearby Tengu slope had begun to loosen up, but conditions were comfortable and enjoyable.

Eventually, it warmed up to the point that the slightest bit of movement had me close to sweating. The Ura Taro Schiheil Course (pictured) was lively with skiers. Despite the snow beginning to loosen up and an increasing number of tracks being carved into the surface, good skiing conditions persisted for a long time.
