Most (= more than 80%) of the courses have finally opened in Sugadaira Kogen on Dec.30 (Thu). It was flurrying in the gentle northwest wind and the temperature dropped to 9 degrees below zero this morning. The powdery snow was nicely groomed on Oku Davos No.1 Advanced Course (pictured) and No.1 Beginner Course.

About 5 cm of fresh snow from last night was packed by the wind over the ungroomed snow on the skiers’ left side of Oku Davos No.1 Advanced Course (pictured). It felt icy on the surface and soft inside. You may think it’s too cold here but the course was crowded with families with young children and students on a school trip, although it was just after New Year’s Holiday.

East (pictured), West, and Panorama Courses were blanketed with soft powder snow on Omote Davos Slope (pictured). Clouds were racing across the sky, although it was not really windy on the slope. The clouds gradually cleared away and the sun appeared.

Trees looked magnificent, coated in rime ice on the gentle slope of Mt. Neko (2,207 meters above sea level). By the way, Oku Davos Kids Park (admission free) and Pine Beak Smile Park (AM・PM, JPY800) has opened since Dec.26 (Sun).
