Shiga Kogen; Kuma-no-yu Ski Area just got started operating today, Nov 24th (Thu). You can ski 600m down from the middle along the 2nd pair. Under the as strong cold as midwinter, it started snowing from this early morning until 10 a.m.

In the middle of the course, there was ground made by a snow cannon and it felt pretty comfortable. I enjoyed good 20m-40m wide icy slopes. Since it snowed still a little so I felt up and down of the ground but I could catch the snow and go down quite comfortably.

It stopped snowing around 10 a.m. and soon the weather got better so that I could see beautiful scenery. We just started operating for snowboarder last year so 90% of visitors were skier. There was almost no winds, the temperature was under 3℃, which was not so low, I saw people around were satisfied with the great start of this season in a pretty good condition.

Since it got started working in haste, and also it was a weekday there was no line and jam for waiting for lifts so that it worked smoothly. An icy slope gradually melted and got rough. But we are going to do maintenance after it closes and snow cannons will be working as well, so we expect better condition from now on.
