Kashimayari / ◎240cm / Cloudy & Snowy2018.Feb.20
The whole sky was covered with clouds today. It was snowing lightly around 7:30, when the lifts started working for ’27th Kashimayari Masters Competition’. Ippon Buna Downhill Course was well-compacted and nicely firm. Both edges and skis worked well.

No.1 Quad was closed for all day due to machine trouble that happened yesterday. No.10 Pair Lift connected to No.1 Quad didn’t work either. Novice and intermediate skiers and snowboarders headed for Kashima or Maruyama Slope, while advanced skiers and snowboarders went to Ipponbuna, Course 5-A, B, or C. Two from Yuzawa city, Niigata, said ” We came all the way to Hakuba because we felt like enjoying other non-local areas once in a while” to me.
[Course 5-A]
It was snowing around 9:00, however, it stopped later. Partway of Course 5-A was covered in thick fog. I felt like sliding down at high speed because it was nicely firm with powder snow. However, I had to give it up because of poor visibility.

Kurosawa Slope was also well-compacted and nicely firm. I didn’t feel so cold without wind. However, as the fog got thick, the clouds also got thicker and the sky got darker. By the way, skiers, snowboarders, and others related to the competition were heading for the starting point by snowmobile from No.3 Quad stop.
