Again today the DC PARK, which was recently revamped and reopened on 3/6 (Sat.), was in top form.In talking with the diggers (pictured), I was told, “For the latest remake we didn’t just focus on the items, but also on the lines we expected people to take – and built them out accordingly to maximize speed and stability. We’re also holding an event here on 3/26 (Fri.), definitely come check it out.”

Early on the groomed granular snow of the South Slope was on the hard side, but after an hour or so the surface began to loosen up nicely, improving skiing conditions.Conditions were similar on the beautifully groomed Sawa Course (pictured), and here again things got better as the snow loosened up after a while.

Iwatake is currently holding the National Student Ski Competition (Alpine discipline) until 3/13 (Sat.). Today the men’s Super-G took place on the Kamoshika Racing Course (pictured).Snow conditions on the groomed Sunny Valley and Paradise courses were nearly identical to the Sawa Course described above, and similarly favorable. With the exception of the steep portion at the top of Paradise, I didn’t encounter any areas with thinning snow or exposed bushes, and in general the snow was still sufficient.
