Iwatake/ △100cm / Snowy 2017.Dec.22

17122201_iwatakeThe ridgeline of the North Alps was covered with the clouds, but it became sunny. Because of the radiative cooling in the early morning, it was cold even at the bottom. The temperature was -7.8 degrees. Then, it got warm without the wind. It was mild at around 9:30 a.m.

17122202_iwatakeThe widely groomed slope of South was flat. The powdery snow was groomed, moderately firm and in good condition to skiing & snowboarding. Although the slope was covered with many ski tracks, the good condition was kept and I could make turns comfortably.

17122203_iwatakeThe snow was groomed well and firm at Gezan. The slope of Sunny Valley Course was hard, although the edges didn’t slip down. There were some bushes yesterday, but thanks to the artificial snow I couldn’t find any of them. However at the lowest part of Paradise, we needed to take care on the thin snow.

17122204_iwatakeNext to Gondola Base Station, the test-riding event of “ID one ski” was held. The staff said, “Today we take place the test-skiing event at Iwatake in a hurry. Tomorrow (Dec 25 (Sat)) and the day after tomorrow (Dec 26 (Sun)), the same event is planed to be held at Nakiyama Slope of Happo from 9:00 a.m.” If you apply for the event in advance on the website, it costs 1,000 JPY for two days to try it. (*It costs 1,500 JPY if you buy on the day.)
