It was snowing from the last evening until this morning and there was 15－18cm in the Mountain Side. The snow was packed by the strong wind, but the condition was good thanks to the cold weather. The first guest today gave me the watchword, “I always enjoy your reports!” and snowboarded down, making the tracks on the fresh slope.

Because of the continuous snowfall since the midnight on Jan. 8 (Sun), the condition of South got much better. The tall bushes were exposed still, but the poles for regulation told us the dangerous areas, so I could ski down comfortably in the wide run.

The groomed areas of North and East were nicely firm and the edges of my skies worked well. The instructors of Iwatake Snowboard School showed the fast and skillful turns. By the way, I met only a few people this morning and the reason was….

That the gondola stopped the operation only after 20 minutes since it was open because of the strong wind. In this winter, we have much less snow than usual, so almost all of the middle and lower areas are not available and the only access to the summit area is the gondola. In spite of the gale there, it was blowing just a gentle wind in the lower area of North and the staff of the lift said that he hardly felt a wind.
