Today, in front of the Usagidaira Terrace, the SMITH DEMO CARAVAN is giving skiers and boarders a chance to test out goggles and helmets from SMITH, the United States’ top brand for both! I spoke with one woman taking advantage of the opportunity (pictured, left), who told me that she loves our site, and continued, “On days like today these goggles make it easy to see subtle changes in the snow surface. I’m definitely buying these!” Tomorrow, the same event will be held at Tsugaike.

Visibility was poor at the top of the ski resort due to heavy snow and dense fog. The ungroomed Sodeguro area (pictured) had roughly 20 to 25cm of new show. While it wasn’t enough to truly float on, it was plenty enough to enjoy, especially since the underlying base itself was also soft.

Over on the ungroomed area paralleling the Kurobishi No. 3 Pair, the moderately-firm uneven base was topped off with 25 to 30cm of new snow. The groomed areas throughout were in fantastic shape, with soft powder-snow surfaces topped with 5 to 10cm of fresh snowfall. I enjoyed a great run alongside the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad (pictured), sending up clouds of spray thanks to the light, fresh snow.

A group of 5 skiers gathered together from areas throughout the Kanto area (pictured, left) told me that they loved our site and that they were very happy to have timed their trip to coincide with so much fresh snow. As I was taking their photo, a couple from Osaka approached (pictured, right), and also chimed in saying that they always check our resort reports. It was another nice weekend full of greetings from guests.
