It was a perfect day for skiing and snowboarding, with clouds spreading thinly across the eastern sky. Early morning emperatures were cold at the base of the mountains, dipping below -10℃ thanks to the clear skies, but with almost no wind I didn’t feel particularly cold after the start of business. The mid to large-sized moguls alonside the Alpen Quad were moderately firm.

I noticed a number of skiers and boarders making large, sweeping turns on the groomed, packed-powder surfaces of the Riesen Slalom Course (pictured), the southern side of Usagidaira (1st photo) and the area paralleling the Kurobishi No. 2 Quad. I did find some large clumps of snow at the top of Riesen, but they were soft and didn’t affect my skiing at all.

I spoke with 3 skiers from Kangawa Prefecture’s Kawasaki City, who told me they loved our site and commented that just like yesterday, they were enjoying the great conditions today. Riesen is popular first thing in the morning, and today at 8:30 there was a 2 to 3 minute wait to ride the Riesen Quad.

There were occasinal strong gusts of northwesterly wind blowing at the top of the resort. The Riesen Grat Course (pictured) featured a moderately-firm, groomed powder surface. The comfortable skiing conditions continued unchanged as I continued along the groomed Panorama and Olympic II courses to the Shirakaba Slope, with firm powder surfaces throughout.
