It was the first beautiful morning of the year. It was freezing at the mountain foot due to the radiative cooling, but it gradually got warmer. Gondola Sanroku station was crowded with skiers, mountain climbers, and backcountry skiers even before the Gondola began its operation, as the weather forecast said it would be sunny today.

The snow was being blown away by the howling wind in the upper area, including the upper Usagidara, Kurobishi, and Riesen Grat. The powder snow was perfectly packed on the groomed run along Kurobishi No.2 Quad (pictured). I enjoyed carving turns, getting my skis on edge.

I left the central area of Skyline Course (pictured) for Shirakaba Slope (pictured in the fourth photo), the gentle lower slope of Olympic Course, through Kitaone Rindo Course. The powder snow was nicely packed. There was almost no wind when I reached the halfway point of Skyline Course.
