Happo-one / ◎160cm / Snowy2020.Dec.30
The wet snow was falling in Usagidaira this early morning. 2 people from Tokyo gave me a greeting, “We always check your reports! We worried about the weather on the mountain because of the rain in the village, but it became snowing soon while we were on the gondola. The snow condition is much better than expected.” To see how the weather would change, I visited “COBEYA” which is pre-opened on Dec. 31 (Thu) on the second floor of Yeti in Usagidaira Terrace.

COBEYA (Photo) is a separated restroom area for families and groups. The fees are JPY7,000 (tax included) per room for a day (8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) including drinks for all people. You can check-in at the information counter on the ground floor of Usagidaira or make a booking on calling to 0261-72-2258 in advance.

After an hour from the first photo, it got much colder and the drying snow was falling heavily in the upper areas. There was 10-15cm fresh snow on the off-piste areas of Skyline Course (Photo). The slope under the fresh snow was bumpy, so I felt difficult to control my skies there.
[Skyline Course]
The groomed slopes of Kurobishi, Usagidaira and Skyline Course was nicely firm and in good condition. A couple from Osaka talked, “We always check your website! We will stay in Hakuba until January 2nd (Sat) from this morning. This is our regular routine to ski in Happo in the new year season!” By the way, the rain changed into the sleet in the lower areas at 0:00 p.m.
