We had snow called Kamiyuki, which is snow that falls in the middle and southern area of Nagano, yesterday due to the low-pressure air that moved east over Honshu mainland of Japan. Meanwhile, the northern upper area of Happo got only 10 cm of fresh snow. It’s already April, but it has been chilly and it was snowy again last night. Trees in the middle and upper area were covered with rime today, which was amazing.

In the morning, the lifts started operation late due to the strong northerly wind and the dense fog that rolled over Usagidaira, Kurobishi and Skyline. 2-3 cm of soft fresh snow lied above the firm, wet, compacted snow on the southern side of Usagidaira and the area along Kurobishi No.2 Quad, which was excellent. After a little while, the visibility got better around 9 a.m.

By the way, Riesen will be closed after the GW as it still has plenty of snow thanks to the latest artificial snowfall machine! The starting and middle area was nicely firm, covered with approximately 2 cm of fresh snow, while, the last area was soft, covered with the well-mixed granular snow and fresh snow. The slope got fluffy as I went down. My skis ran well and I enjoyed gaining speed.

There was about 10 cm of fresh snow from over the two days at the area along Alpen Quad, Kurobishi No.3 Quad and the non-compacted area of Skyline. It was heavy but good as my skis were not stuck. For your information, HAPPO BANKS and Kitaone No.3 Slope was closed last weekend, while Kurobishi is still open and available.
