Ms. Yui Sunohara, from Nagano Pref., is one of favorite women’s skiers to win the ski technical competition. She was 3rd in the 53rd & 54th competition and 5th in the 55th competition. She is expected to win this competition. She got high score of 88.6 points in today’s preliminary race, Combined Skiing.

Turn back the time to early in the morning, Usagidaira was covered with thick fog and the lifts above Skyline 2 and Alpen Quad were suspended. After the team coach meeting, announcement was made that “Combined Skiing, Intermediate Groomed Slope” was changed the course and schedule, and “Slalom, Intermediate Non-groomed Slope” was canceled.

And so, Men’s and Women’s preliminary was held for only on “Combined Skiing, Intermediate Groomed Slope” in Usuba area. Preparation of the course was progressing rapidly and the course inspection was started at 10:50 a.m.

Mr. Yamanoi Zen won the individual title of the students ski competition (demo division), which was held the other day, for four times in a row. He is representing Hokkaido Pref. in the ski technical competition. By the way, the slopes of Usagidaira was nicely firm corn snow. From Riesen to Nakiyama, corn snow was melted soft and thick. There were about 7–8 cm wet fresh snow on the non-groomed area of Usagidaira and Riesen.
