Happo One / ◎305cm / Sunny2019.Jan.30
Clouds hung over the slope at dawn, however, it has cleared up (as shown in the photo) and became a great day for skiing/snowboarding without wind. All of the 17 slopes are available at Hakuba Happo One Slope as the amount of snow reached 300 cm yesterday. In addition, HAPPO BANKS THE SNOW PARK will open this weekend, on Feb.2 (Sat).
[A distant view from slope]
It was pretty cold with the temperature at -9℃ at the upper area and -11℃ at the lower area due to the radiative cooling. The snow surface made a squeaking sound on my way to Gondola Sanroku Station. Powder snow was nicely firm on the compacted southern area of Usagidara (shown in the photo), the area along Kurobishi No.2 Quad, and Panorama Course. They were filled with beautiful tracks in a short time.
[Usagidaira Slope]
I felt like skiing down again and again on the flat wide Panorama Course. I saw people gaining speed and raising a cloud of snow.
[Panorama Course]
Powder snow was great not only at the upper parts but also the lower parts, including Riesen Slalom Course, Olympic Course II (in the photo), Central Couse, Sakka Slope and Shirakaba Slope. Many skiers/snowboarders arrived early but few came to Olympic Course and I enjoyed leaving my tracks on the white slope.
