It’s not much but has been snowing at the top for the last four days. From yesterday till this morning, we had snow at the upper area above Riesen Slalom Course, Panorama Course and Kitaone Course. The total amount of snow reached approximately 10 cm at Kurobishi Slope.

It was a beautiful day without wind for the first time in five days today. There was 10 – 15 cm of snow at the upper area of Usagidaira. Not only the upper snow layer but also lower layer was powder-like due to the loss of terrestrial heat. It was chilly with the temperature at -4℃ in the early morning because of the radiative cooling. However, the sunshine got strong around 8:30, which made the back of my jacket wet with sweat.

The artificial snowfall machines were working at Riesen and Panorama. At Riesen, 15 snowfall machines had been newly set-up, many of which were working with roar.

Glamping, which is going to open this winter, is under trial operation at Kitaone Kogen with the cooperation of Snow Peak, a popular manufacturer of outdoor goods. For your information, not tents but containers in the photo will be used as bedrooms during winter. They will be only available for part day use from Jan.10 to Mar.10 for 2019 winter opening.
