“1st Happo-one Kids Ski Technical Competition” was held at Nakiyama, Public Course. Continuing from yesterday, it was warm and the beautiful blue sky spread. The granular snow on the groomed areas of the lower part of the ski area were started to melt before the open.

53 individual skiers (elementary and secondary school students) and 9 teams (children and their families) entered the competition. There were 4 divisions, including time race, individual giant slalom, individual slalom, and team competition. Individual skiers will join in the three divisions and compete for the best time and the score. Pre-running started at 9:25 a.m. and the time race started at 9:30 a.m..

Parents were cheering and taking photos of their kids, who were doing their best. The announcement of the results, a prize-giving ceremony and a closing ceremony will start at 1:30 p.m.. Helmets, gloves, windbreakers, which local companies and producers gave for free, will be presented to the skiers.

A family from Okayama Pref. said, “We always enjoy your reports. We left our home on Friday and drove the night to come here.” Panorama Course was firm and nice in the early morning. The granular snow was melting and slushy at Riesen Slalom Course around 8:15 and it was difficult to make turns. (Happo Report will be updated 2 times a week after Mar. 26)
