“Winter Universal Festival” was held in front of Usagidaira Terrace from 10:00 a.m. In the event, people in wheelchairs can have opportunities to try Gondola and dual skiing. In the opening ceremony, Arukuma, a mascot character of Nagano Prefecture, and Victoire Cheval Blanc III, an official character of Hakuba Village came on the stage.

Two dual skis were prepared for trials. Two skis are equipped with it, and there is a suspension between skis and seat so that you can ride comfortably. It requires no experiences, as a pilot controls a wheel in the back. Please feel free to try because what you need to do is just sitting down.

A chair skier, Mr. Kenji Natsume, was invited as a guest speaker for the talk-show. He is a representative skier of Japan for Pyeongchang Paralympic and is expected to win medals. I was impressed by his amazing run on the steep slope of Usagidaira.

Demo run of dual skiing and chair skiing started around 11:20 a.m., and I heard people cheering. After the talk-show, genki-nabe was served from 12:00 p.m., and we had a lottery from 2:00 p.m. In addition, there was a trial section of sport snowball fight (a target hitting game) for free. Those who hit the target received stickers.
