It was blowing a strong wind and the gondola and lifts in the upper parts were late for operations as well as yesterday…. Nakiyama No.3 Triple, Shirakaba No.1 Pair and Kitaone Sakka Quad were open on schedule and those slopes were very crowded with people from the gondola station. By the way, only Nakiyama No.3 Triple was open in the early-morning operation today.

We had a heavy snowfall from the last evening and there was about 20cm deep fresh snow in Shirakaba. The central part was groomed and soft. In spite of that Shirakaba is located at the bottom of the ski area, the snow was in good condition as well.

In the south part of Nakiyama, the skier’s right side was not groomed and I could enjoy the 20cm fluffy snow. The groomed area already got rough, but the snow was soft, so it did not matter to skiing. After that, Nakiyama No.2 Pair and Happo No.1 Pair were open, however, they had to run slowly because of the strong wind.

Today is usually the last day of the New Year holidays, but I still saw a lot of people from around Japan. As of 0:00 p.m, the lifts in the upper part from Alpen Quad and Skyline No.2 Pair are closed still. The snow is falling heavily even the time passes.
