Goryu & 47 / ◎310cm / Sunny2021.Feb.01

The strong winter pressure pattern had been staying over Japan from Jan. 29 (Fri) to Jan. 31 (Sun) and it brought good snowfall. Goryu&47 hardly got affected by winds during these days, so it keeps the most amount of snow in Hakuba Valley. Today, we have an ideal day for riding with the blue sky and no wind!

The upper part of Route 1 (Photo) was groomed well and nicely firm. I saw experts skiing and snowboarding down at high speed there in the early morning. The groomed slopes of Route 2, Route 5 and Route 6 were also nicely firm.

Grand Prix Course (Photo), Panorama Course and Route 8 were also in good condition with their nicely firm compacted snow. Among the groomed areas, only the lower part of Route 1 was very firm because of the artificial snow. I felt some parts were hard there, but the edges of my skis still worked well.

The view of Northern Alps standing out in the blue sky was so amazing that people stopped to take photos before starting skiing. A couple from Hyogo Prefecture talked, “We have such a good day with the fine weather and snow today! However, we worry about the weather tomorrow.”
