The strong cold wave had come over Japan and it became as cold as December. When I got to Alps-daira, it was heavily snowing with the cold north-east wind. Although it snowed last morning, the season on the mountain had suddenly changed into winter, as the staff said “I was surprised that the winter view spread out today!”

The temperature was -2.0 degrees at the summit station of Tele-cabin. Actually, I felt much colder. I climbed up the slope, stepping on the dry soft snow to Grand Prix Course, the trees were frosted. The roofs of ALPS360 and lift stations were also covered with the snow, but some snow was blew away by the strong wind.

The amount of snow was 15－20cm in Panorama Course and Grand Prix Course. Only tops of bushes were exposed and the fluffy snow field made me excited. In the slopes of upper area which is made from only natural snow, the lifts were already ready for operation.

During on the mountain for the report until 10:30 a.m, the snow was falling heavily still. There was a snowfall in the base area as well and the amount was 3cm in lower Toomi Area. According to Japan Meteorological Agency, the strong cold wave will come again on Nov. 18 (Sat) to Koshin Region.
