Cortina / ◎270cm / Cloudy2018.Jan.22
It was calm, but high, thin clouds spread across the sky this morning. Corn snow till yesterday afternoon and dry snow that fell yesterday evening were mixed on Ipponmatsu
Course and Wasabidaira Slope. Both were well-groomed and nicely firm. Edges cut bit snow surface well and I enjoyed making turns freely.
[Ipponmatsu Course]
I didn’t feel so cold, however, I found trees covered with rime at the upper area of the ski area. Not many people arrived in the morning because it was a weekday of January. There were more international visitors than Japanese visitors at No.4 Pair Lift in the early morning.
[Mt. Hieda Forest Course]
Mt. Hieda Forest Course was flat and nicely firm and snow had powdery feeling. As I went to Mt. Hieda Course 1, I found about 20 cm of new powder snow. It was soft and much more than I expected! I sometimes had a bottoming feeling because of hard bumpy ground. However, I got very excited of the powder snow which I hadn’t enjoyed for a while.
[Mt. Hieda Course 1]
Almost all the people headed for either Tree Area or Mt. Hieda Course 1 & 2 as they get off No.4 Pair Lift. Thus, Itadaira Course, which was well-groomed, was not crowded. Ikenota Slope, which was thoroughly groomed and nicely firm, was also good to enjoy powder snow.
