Now 10 prefectures are still declering the state of emergency in Japan and this condition pushes back the start of the summer operation of HAKUBA VALLEY than usual. The operation of Tsugaike Ropeway (*Former; Tsugaike Panorama Way) started 11 days later than last year, on June 12 (Sat) today. As the first operation day event, “Gondola de Roulette” (= Lucky bags were put in totally 150 gondola lifts) was held.

The snow in Tsugaike Nature Park is thawing earlier than the usual. In Mizubasho Marsh, I could find many Mizubasho flowers blooming already. (1st & 2nd Photo). Now 50-60% of them are blooming, so it is expected that the peak of the flower will come around from June 17 (Thu) to June 20 (Sun).

Although it was slightly rainning in the morning, we had the soft sunlight and could see the blue sky (Photo) gradually at 10:00 a.m. We could see Mizubasho along the wooden walkway and in the hollow before Kusu-gawa River in Watasuge Marsh. Around there, the fresh green leaves of Dakekanba were brightly shining.

Even 70% of the wooden paths are covered with snow still, we can walk all of the courses, sometimes on the snow (*Pink ribbons show the route to walk). By the way, Central Parking Area beside Tsugaike Gondola Station costs JPY500 per day now (*No.2 Parking Area which is 5 minutes away from the gondola on foot is free). TOBIDAS, KOGIDAS, KABEDAS and FUMIDAS in WOW! are open on every weekend in June.
