Surprisingly, the temperature was only about 10 degree at Tsugaike Visitor Centre as of 8:15 a.m. (+13.5℃!). The gentle breeze was blowing too, and it was too cold to stay without a jacket. Iwashobu, which blooms from the late summer to the early autumn, is currently at their best at Mizubasho Marsh (shown in the photo). I saw the white, light pink and dark pink flowers and fruits trembling in the breeze.

It was cloudy in the morning but the blue sky gradually stretched out. It got warm and nice as the sun shone. There were some wet, slippery parts in the shade at the trail connecting each Marsh because of the rain yesterday.

I found Iwashobu, Oba Senkyu, Ohanaudo, Umebachiso, Tateyama Azami, and Oyama Rindo flowers on my way to Ukishima Marsh. By the way, there are Torikabuto flowers along the trail between Mizubasho Marsh and Ukishima Marsh (as shown in the photo). Please do not touch as it is one of the three major toxic plants in Japan.

The blue sky stretched out more in the west around 10 a.m. I got a fine view of the ridge of Mt. Korenge and Mt. Hakuba Norikura, however, Hakuba Sanzan kept hidden in the rising clouds. Some plants, including Iwaicho, started to change color at Ukishima Marsh and Watasuge Marsh.

“We’ll just walk around Ukishima Marsh because we have small kids”, a couple coming with 4-year and 1-year children from Tokyo and taking photos said. At Hakuba Oike, there were a lot of visitors today as it got sunny after long dull and rainy days but many of them arrived late.
