Tsugaike Nature Park / Cloudy & Sunny2019.Jun.02
Tsugaike Panorama Way (= Tsugaike Gondola + Tsugaike Ropeway) started operation and Tsugaike Nature Park opened on Jun.1 (Sat). I saw some people equipped for the climb in Tsugaike Ropeway. It was cloudy and chilly in the morning with the temperature at +10℃, and I had to wear long a long sleeve and a jacket.

Nature Park was mostly covered with snow. I found three potholes in Mizubasho Marsh and Mizubasho flowers were in bloom in two of them, while some flowers were still in bud. I found another pothole just before I reached Kusu-gawa River in Watasuge Marsh but Mizubasho flowers were still small there.

The snowy ground was slippery as there were ups and downs. I found a bridge across Kusu-gawa River and steps on the snowy slope. If you follow pink ribbons around bamboos, you can go back and forth between Yase Ridge and Tenbo Marsh.

The clouds gradually cleared up and the sunshine got stronger around 10:30 a.m. Sunglasses are essential to protect your eyes against the reflected light from the snow surface. In addition, you should wear waterproof trekking shoes or sneakers.
[Mizubasho Marsh・Tsugaike Nature Park]
Shinto ritual was performed at the entrance of Nature Park from 11 a.m. and then “Mizubasho Festival” was held. After the rice-pounding event, visitors were treated to mochi (rice cake) with soybean flour (as shown in the photo). Sansai (edible wild plants) soup containing Nemagarai-dake Bamboo and Warabi (bracken) was also served. I heard people saying “it’s tasty” here and there.
