Hakuba Oike/ Cloudy & Sunny2018.Oct.29
The temperature was +3°C in front of the visitor center around 9 a.m. this morning because of the cold air coming from north. I found small snowflakes whirling around in the strong wind under the clear blue sky after I passed Tenguppara. There was also a little amount of fresh snow in the shade.

Three days are left until Oct. 31 (Wed), the end of this season. There were few people around the wavy Hakuba Oike. Mt. Korenge looked white ( ※ the 4th snow of the season) and I felt the early winter was in the air. Meanwhile, the plumage of a grouse, which I saw around the top of Mt. Hakuba Norikura, was still brown.

Some parts looked muddy on the way from the entrance of the trail to Hakuba Oike, however, they were just frozen and my shoes never got dirty. The shade of the trail and the rocky spots were so slippery with ice and snow that I had to walk carefully.

The amount of fresh snow gradually increased as I went from Hakuba Oike to Mt. Korenge. I enjoyed feeling the snow for the first time in a while. The snow turned hile and hit my face with the strong wind, which was painful.

I enjoyed overlooking the whole Tsugaike Nature Park from Funakoshi-no-kashira as the eastern sky was clear. The clear blue sky, the snow falling in earnest, the expansive scenery with nothing to interrupt and mountain peaks covered with snow. I enjoyed the gorgeous time, feeling the sign of the late autumn as well as the early winter.
