Tsugaike Nature Park / Sunny2018.Oct.02
Tsugaike Panorama Way cancelled operations yesterday morning due to windy weather after the typhoon passed the day before. It was chilly even when I wore a fleece at 6°C in this cloudy morning. People in the Visitor Center were talking about this season’s first snow that appeared at the ridgeline from Hakuba Norikura Summit to Hakuba-dake Summit.

Sunlight started coming into the park about 10 a.m.. I was able to see the beautifully red Kuromamenoki (bog bilberry) spreading throughout the brown marshland while enjoying the warmth of the sun.

The leaves have already begun changing, displaying their beautiful autumn colors. Nanakamado (Japanese rowan) leaves were being blown off by strong winds. It was mostly sunny by the time I arrived at Mosen-ike pond. I was a little sweaty, but was refreshed by a cool wind coming from the north.

It was breathtaking view of the Northern Alps and Hakuba mountains with the golden colored marshlands in the foreground. Hikers were taking a break at the observatory and taking photographs.

I can’t help stopping so often to see the stunning beauty of autumn leaves every time the sunlight comes and goes. There were many hikers seen around 11 a.m.; people are busy greeting each many times. It was surprising to see many people carrying professional camera gear and sturdy tripods.
