It was sunny on the top of the mountain in the early morning. However, when I got off the first Tsugaike Ropeway, it was white all over outside, covered with clouds. The temperature was +12℃ as of 9 a.m. There was neither wind nor sunlight, and it was cold with the damp chilly air. However, I got warm and felt nice with the temperature and the air after I started walking.

The ground was muddy in some parts on the trail because of the rain that lasted for a long time until yesterday. Clouds sometimes hung over and sometimes cleared in Tenguppara, where the boardwalk was dry. Leaves in the marsh were already changing color, while trees on the eastern slope of Mt. Hakuba Norikura had started to change.

Later, the blue sky appeared through the breaks of the clouds and the sunlight came through. People were taking off their jackets because of the strong sunlight and the sudden exercise raised their body temperature.

The top of Mt. Hakuba Norikura was higher than clouds. Creeping pine (Haimatsu) around there was dark green but I could see some orange, red and yellow spots on the side of Mt. Korenge.

Slopes around Hakuba Oike were all yellow except for Creeping pine (Haimatsu), which looked like a typical scene of autumn. The wind blowing down from Hakuba-Sanzan was so strong that the clouds were pushed back and didn’t reach the ridge. The wind that almost blew my hat away was chilly. So, I put on my jacket again, which I had taken off for a while.
