The temperature dropped rapidly after the Obon holidays but it’s getting hot again as typhoon approached and the temperature was 24°C at 8:50 a.m. on Aug. 22 (Wed). Many places of the trail to Tenguppara was shaded but I sweated a lot as soon as I started to walk. The cool breeze was blowing at Tenguppara, so I took a short rest and headed to the east face of Mt. Hakuba Norikura.

Miyama-akinokirinsou were in full bloom along the trail to Tenguppara, and also Karamatsusou, Onishiogama, Ymahahako and Oobasenkyu were in bloom. Iwashoubu and Otogirisou were in bloom at Tenguppara and I also found fruits of Benibana-ichigo. At the east face of Mt. Hakuba Norikura, where snow thawed late, Miyama-daikonsou (in photo) was bloomed beautifully.

The rocks got bigger as I climb up. I climbed carefully not to lose steps. Some people were taking short rest and I heard them saying, “We climbed really high!”, “Beautiful!”.

This is almost same angle of the report on July 14 (Sat). Snow was almost melted, and some grasses were turned to yellow and I felt the summer of mountain passes quickly. Yamahahako, flower of late summer, were at their best and ears of Chinguruma were swaying in the wind near Hakuba Oike Sanso.

People were resting and taking lunch near Hakuba Oike Sanso. A family from Itoigawa City gave me the watchword, “We always enjoy your report!”. The sunlight was started to block by the clouds and it became cool.
