Tsugaike Nature Park / Sunny & Cloudy2017.Oct.26
When I got off Tsugaike Ropeway, a wintry view jumped into my sight. The cold wave was brought by the 21st typhoon Lan and there was a blizzard on the upper parts over 1,700 meters in elavation on Oct. 23 (Mon). The snow was damp, so the surface was frozen and firm enough to walk in the morning on Oct. 24 (Tue).

The amount of new snowfall was about 9cm in Mizubasho and Watasuge Marsh. The wooden paths were covered with snow as well and the feel of it made me excited. The clouds were moving fast over us, but there was almost no wind in the nature park. Besides, the sunlight was very warm, so we could enjoy trekking comfortably.

When I came to the path in the forest after Kusu-gawa River, the snow became soft. Some trees had branches bending toward the path because of the snow, so we needed to go forward avoiding them.
[Ukishima Marsh, Tsugaike Nature Park]
In Ukishima Marsh, there was 12 cm snowfall and at the deepest part, my trekking shoes were entirely buried in the snow. The clouds were breaking up from the south gradually and after a while, we could see the beautiful contrast of Northern Alps and the blue sky.
[Watasuge Marsh, Tsugaike Nature Park]
The view of Northern Alps from the gondola was also impressive. The peak of autumn tints came down to the lower part of Tsugaike Kogen Ski Resort, so we could enjoy both of the autumn and winter views at once.
