Now is the peak season of Autumn tints, so Tsugaike Ropeway made extra service in the early morning. Almost people who came after 9:00 a.m. went to Tsugaike Nature Park. However, today I climbed toward Hakuba Oike Big Pond to report the upper part, from Tenguppara (2,180 meters in elevation) to the ridges of Northern Alps.

This year, we have much rain and some hail, so a lot of Autumn leaves had fallen already. It was very muggy and we had the strong sunlight, but a cool wind helped me to climb comfortably.

The panoramic view from the east rocky face of Mt. Hakuba Norikura was so beautiful. After 10:00 a.m, the clouds got to gather faster, so I harried to the summit.

Around the summit of Mt. Hakuba Norikura (2,437 meters in elevation), I could see the bright contrast of the green Siberian Dwarf Pines and red leaves. However, the Autumn tints had passed the peak and the views were like late Fall. After the steep rocky trail of the east face, we could get our breath back in the flat path on the ridges to the Summit Cairn.

After all, the clouds did not hide mountains even after 11:00 a.m. and we could see the great mountain ridges clearly. The surface of the big pond was rippling because of the wind, but the view so beautiful that many people stopped to look at Hakuba Oike Big Pond. I often met hikers who came from Mt. Hakuba in this morning as well.
