“Hakuba Alps Hana-Zanmai (Flower Festival, July 1－Aug. 10)” has started today. I met a 2 mothers with sons who are classmates and other families with small children. It shows the high summer for trekking has come.

After several days, we could see the blue sky in this morning from the mountain foot, but the clouds were moving rapidly and covered the sky around 8:30 a.m. Nikkokisuge in Watasuge Marsh started to come out. Those in Ukishima Marsh at a 50-meter higher elevation just put out puds.

Instead of Nikkokisuge, Shinanokinbai were blooming beautifully. The clouds were sticking above Mt. Shorenge and Mt. Hakuba-norikura-dake, so I could not see the grand view. However, the sun began to cast the sunlight sometimes and the temperature got higher and higher.

Tsumatorisou (photo), Tateyamarindou and Karamatsusou were in lively blossom everywhere in the nature park. Besides, I found Kinugasasou in the beginning part and Akamono, Koiwakagami in the latter part. Mizubasho remaining around Huketsu got withering 10－14 days earlier than usual.

The nature park became busy after 10:00 a.m. By the way, “Tsuga Fes” will be held in this weekend at the intermediate station of the gondola and it will have events, such as workshops. You can also enjoy local specialty of Hakuba at the stalls.
