Tsugaike Nature Park / Sunny & Cloudy2016.Sep.03
On Sep. 1 (Thu.), the trail to Mt. Hakuba through Hakuba Snowy Valley was closed, so Tsugaike Panorama Way starts the operation 30 minutes earlier than schedule, at 7:00 a.m, today and tomorrow. It was overcast in the mountain foot, but we could see the blue sky from the upper part in this morning.

Tsugaike Ropeway was very crowded with hikers who would climb up to Mt. Hakuba via Hakuba Oike Big Pond. Unfortunately, the clouds had gathered 15 minutes before the open of the ropeway and people looked to regret that they could not see the mountain views.

The peaks had gone behind the clouds when I arrived at Tsugaike Nature Park. However, it got better around 9:00 a.m. in Ukishima Marsh and we could see mountains of Hakuba. I found black berries of Kuromamenoki along the wooden path. In Nagano, it is called Samabudou and used for food. (*It is forbidden to pick any berries, seeds, and plants in the park.)

Now is a season “after flowers, before autumn tints”, so the park was rather quiet. The sunlight was blocked off by the clouds, but the temperature got higher as time passed.

When I got to Yase-one, the south wind cooled me down comfortably. The trees in this ridge had started to change into red and yellow already. Nanakamado and Ookamenoki showed beautiful gradation of color from green.
