On the 1st of August (Sat), the rainy season has finally finished in the areas of Tokai and Kanto Koshinetsu, following after South Kyushu, Shikoku and Chugoku areas on July 30th (Thu) and Kinki area on July 31st (Fri). This is 11 days later than the usual in Kanto Koshinetsu including Hakuba area. Also, this is the first time in these 13 years since 2007 that the rainy season lasted until August. In Happo, Akabanashimotsukesou was coming down to Kurobishi (Photo) as well as Kamaike Marsh.

This morning, the east sky was covered with thin clouds. More and more clouds were coming up when I started to climb, so the weather was likely to be cloudy on Happo Nature Trail. It was cool, 16 degrees as of 6:30 a.m, and the sunlight was very soft, so I could enjoy trekking very comfortably without being exhausted.

The alpine flowers are still blooming beautifully and Oyamasoba was found everywhere along the trails. Especially, Kugaisou (Photo) in the north side of Happo-ike Pond was attracting our eyes. I saw many people stopping to take photos of them when they were passing through the wooden path.

This is what we were waiting for in these long periods! From the wooden deck, we could see the pond reflecting the mountains of Hakuba like a mirror. People looked very impressed with this amazing view and some of them said, “Beyond my expectations!” and “How beautiful!!”. At around 9:00 a.m, it was getting foggy around here and the cool air made us forget about the mountain foot areas.
