Hakuba Iwatake / ◎200cm / Snowy2021.Jan.16
The snow falling on the summit area was getting heavier and heavier as time passed. The groomed slope of South (Photo) was very firm with the wet snow. Sawa Course where had hardly people for a half hour just after the open was in the similar condition, but the snow condition was better because this area is facing to the north.

The thick clouds on the ski area blocked the sunlight and it was dark this morning, so the lights for night skiing were turned on around the summit station of Chuo High Speed Lift. When I skied down to the place on the photo in Gezan Course, I got to feel stuck on the 2cm wet fresh snow on the slope. After that, my skis ran well again from the middle part of Sunny Valley Course which had groomed moist slopes in light raining.

On the way to Hikage Course from Gezan Course, there is the main lounge of S-CLASS (Photo). Kotatsu, a table with a built-in heater and blanket, is available there and it is really recommended on a day like today. They also provide attractive service such as First Track Tour, Priority Parking and Coupon Ticket of “Iwatake-no-yu” (JPY7,980 per adult for an advance ticket!).

It was raining slightly in Paradise Area as well. The slope condition was still good with the moist snow, but I could see the colors of the ground through the snow and it made me worry about the condition after that. By the way, the time table of the shuttle bus which comes to the bottom station of Gondola regularly might be changed due to the declaration of a state of emergency.
