Hakuba Norikura / ◎255cm / Rainy & Cloudy2019.Feb.04
“We’ll do our best to win this year too!”, members of ATOMIC student team, who were practicing hard for “National Student Iwatake Skiing Competition”, said and posed for the photo. It started to rain yesterday afternoon and it was still rainy at Base Area as of 8:30 this morning.
[Wakaguri Chuo Slope]
There were a few skiers/snowboarders even around 9 am and members of ATOMIC student team went down, using the whole slope. It was sleeting at the upper area of Wakaguri Chuo Slope. When I reached No.5 High-speed Pair Lift Station, it was hilling with the gentle northerly wind blowing.
[Rabbit Course]
The compacted wet snow was covered with a thin layer of wet fresh wet snow on Rabbit Course. My skis ran smoothly when I used the edges, however, the large ski soles sometimes stuck on the snow surface. I enjoyed making turns on Wakaguri Chuo Slope, where there was no snow.
[Rabbit Course]
It started to snow not only at the upper area but also at Base Area. The strong northerly wind and snow blew from the sides at No.3 High-speed Pair Lift Station. The upper area of Highway Course was compacted and soft, containing moisture. On the other hand, the lower area was non-compacted and almost flat (as shown in the photo).
