Hakuba Norikura / ◎180cm / Sunny & Cloudy2019.Jan.10

19011001_hakunoriNo.10 Pair and Cortina No.4 Pair were suspended all day yesterday because there was a risk of avalanche due to the heavy snow. However, I found the surface of Skyview Slope was really smooth this morning, which made me excited. No.10 Pair started operation at 8:40, 20 minutes earlier than usual, maybe because of the great condition.

19011002_hakunoriAmount of snow was smaller than I had expected, about 40 cm deep, at Skyview Slope probably because it snowed with strong wind from the night before last till yesterday. The slope was packed by wind and gave heavy feeling, however, it was nice actually. My skis did not sink into the snow too much and I enjoyed a floating feeling!

19011003_hakunoriMany advanced skiers/snowboarders went up by No.10 Pair and came down, shouting for joy and raising a cloud of snow. The main slope on the eastern side of Skyview Slope got full of tracks in 30 minutes. I saw many people hiking up to enjoy powder snow on the western side next (shown in the photo).

19011004_hakunori“Hi, Snownavi, how’s it going?”, a shop owner of Montana Jingisukan said. He kindly posed for the photo with Mr. and Ms.Oike, who are patagonia ambassadors, and another friend. They were leaving tracks on the soft, groomed slope of Highway and Kamoshika, after enjoying powder snow at Skyview.
