We had snow last night and the wet fresh snow lied about 2 cm deep at the upper area and nearly 1 cm at the lower area this morning. Panorama Course and the upper area of Route 8 (shown in the photo) were not really granular as the granular snow was well-compacted with the wet snow. I enjoyed making turns there.
[Route 8]
The lower area of Route 8 was covered with the granular snow. “We enjoy your reports! We often go to Shirakaba 2in1 and Kagura, but during the spring skiing season, we come to Hakuba to enjoy the hard slope.”, a group of four advanced snowboarders coming from Yamanashi Prefecture said.
[Upper Area of Route1]
About 1 cm of wet fresh snow lied above the firm compacted granular snow at the upper area of Route1. I heard some saying “It’s hard to go down”, as skis were easy to be stuck. Route 5 and 6 were in similar condition and my skis did not run smoothly. However, they got better around 9:30 as the fresh snow melted and the slope got loose.
[Upper Area of Route1]
I enjoyed gaining speed on the compacted Route7. “My skis run too smoothly. How can I stop? haha”, a student from Mie Prefecture asked me. She seemed to have a great time with her friends. There was a thick layer of loose snow at the lower area of Route1, but it was actually nice.
