The dry snow was densely falling while the strong wind was blowing intermittently. Due to the novel coronavirus, the fourth pair before the opening of the business had a long line of visitors, although it was a little smaller than the usual “Powder Festival”. When I returned to the car after about one and a half hours of coverage, fresh snow had already accumulated on the windshield by 10 cm.

Visitors who got off the fourth pair, which started to move at 9 am, competed for the tree area and the Hieda Ⅰ to Ⅲ in non-compact snow. When entering Hieda Ⅲ from the Hieda Ridge Course where fresh snow piled up 5-10cm on the compacted snow where the powdered snow was moderately tight, abundant fresh snow of 35-40cm greeted me!

The fresh snow was a perfect powder snow, with a large amount of snow smoke rising every time the edge was cut, although it was slightly bottomed on the rugged and tight ground. Cheers came up here and there, and the atmosphere was just a festival! Hieda Ⅲ, which had a lower competitive rate than other courses, had a beautiful snowy surface for a long time.

Three members of the Everrace Demo Ski Team at Hosei University said, “I’m always watching! I’m sorry that the National Iwatake Ski Tournament was canceled. I came here today to practice powder running (laughs).” The course between the Ikenota slope (pictured) with moderately compacted snow + 5 to 10 cm of fresh snow and the Hieda forest was very comfortable.
