Cortina / ◎230cm / Snowy2020.Feb.11
People started to line up at No.2 Quad station before the slope opened. The line even led to the back of the ticket office. I guess everyone was looking for powder snow as we’ve got sufficient snow thanks to the heavy snow from yesterday. It was a great powder day as everyone expected!

Almost all people lined up at No.4 Pair after getting off No.2 Quad. So, Ikenota Slope remained untouched without ski tracks just after the slope opened. The compacted powder snow was moderately soft in Ikenota Slope. I enjoyed carving turns there.

I went to Hiedayama Course 1 through an ice tunnel after getting off No.4 Pair. My ski poles got buried by soft snow, which was covered with about 30 cm of fresh snow from last night. I enjoyed the floating sensation in the soft, deep powder snow. I heard people shouting for joy here and there.

“It’s our first time in Cortina. We joined in a line for No.2 Quad just past 8:30 a.m. Then we went to Hiedayama Rinkan Course, taking No.4 Pair, and finally reached Itadaira Course just past 9:30 a.m. We’ve just finished our first run. We realized how popular Cortina is.”, two skiers from Niigata said. The queue at No.4 Pair Station kept long and snaking during my interview.
