The blue sky was began to spread before the gondola started the operation at 8:30 a.m. At 10 a.m., the temperature at Iwatake summit was about 26 degree Celsius. It was not so high but I got sweat when I started to walk under summer sunshine. The weather was not fine for last few days because typhoon No. 5 that born on July 21.

On August 2, new observation deck was opened in front of the gondola summit station. There are chairs and you can enjoy the view of Hakuba Village and the lilies of south slope.More and more Sukashiyuri lilies (Thunbeng lily) started to boom and the pattern of stripes got much clearer.

But the lilies that had bloomed early were damaged on leaves and flowers by rain. In the upper part of North area, in back of Skyarc, half of the lilies were in bloom. People were increasing to see the lilies there.

The area was crowded and Buggy Cruise was also popular. The staff will drive the Buggy and guide you around the lily garden. (Buggy Cruise: Adult 1,500JPY, Child 500JPY, entrance fee of the garden is required separately)

“Summit Touring Course” of Hakuba Iwatake MTB PARK was newly opened in the summit area. The starting point is in west side of Skyarc (photo). After ride down East area and Kamo4 area, the course run through the forest. Back to Kamo4 again and ride up the zigzag course to the goal located in east side of Skyarc.
