The weather forecast said it would be overcast but it was the most beautiful summer morning today. The clear blue sky stretched out from the morning and I left for Happo-ike Pond, taking 7 a.m.- Gondola. However, clouds soon started to rise in the south and north around 8 a.m. (in the photo), and the mountain ridge was gradually hidden by the clouds.

I saw many families enjoying trekking during the summer break on my way to Maruyama Cairn. There are various ways to enjoy Happo, including just walking around, taking Gondola or lifts, trekking to Happo-ike Pond or to Maruyama Cairn, climbing Mt. Karamatsu, and walking along the ride of Ushiro Tateyama Mountain Range.

Unfortunately, it was too cloudy to enjoy the view. However, in another sense, the clouds protected us from the summer intense sunlight. I enjoyed trekking to Maruyama Cairn without getting tired thanks to the cloudy weather. Snow was still left at the side of the course leading to Ogi-no-Setsuden and Maruyama Cairn, which made me cool down.

I arrived at Maruyama Cairn at 9 a.m. “We’ll walk along the ridge and go to Mt. Goryu. We have to be careful at the spots with chains around Ushikubi because the visibility is not good. We didn’t expect to see you during summer season.”, three climbers said.

By the way, Chinguruma, which is a major alpine plant, was in full bloom between Ue-no-Kaba and Maruyama Cairn from late July to the first weekend of August. (The photo was taken on Aug.4 (Sun)) Instead, Miyama Daikonso, Yotsuba Shiogama, Miyama Rindo and Akabana Shimotsukeso are getting at their best now. Various kinds of alpine plants were pretty today as usual.
